Gardberg & Kemmerly, P.C. Attorneys at Law

Veterans receiving disability compensation who do not earn enough income to file tax returns annually have until May 5, 2020 to apply for the Coronavirus stimulus benefit. Many of these Veterans do not have direct deposit information on file with the IRS and so the IRS has requested that these Veteran's apply for the benefits directly by May 5, 2020. The IRS is also requesting information from these Veterans regarding dependents to determine if those veterans are entitled to the additional $500 payment per dependent, in addition to the $1,200 individual stimulus payment.

Initial reports suggested that Veterans had only two days to submit their request for the stimulus benefits, but the IRS has confirmed that the deadline to file for the benefits has been extended to May 5, 2020. The IRS warns that if these Veterans do not apply for these benefits, their money could be delayed until Spring of 2021.
