America’s trucking industry moves the majority of American goods but needs 80,000 new truckers to keep up. In response to the shortage of truckers, the White House is launching the Veterans Trucking Task Force to connect veterans to trucking jobs.
This initiative was announced on April 4, 2022. The Veterans Trucking Task Force will work with national veterans’ organizations to create a plan to attract Vets and separating service members to the trucking industry.
The White House’s general efforts to lower barriers to the truck industry have shown some success recently, resulting in the creation of trucking apprenticeships in several industries and 100 private companies and doubling the number of CDLs issued between 2021 and 2022.
Veterans and separating service members can find more information at FASTPORT’s National Apprenticeship website.
