VA Closes Newnan, Georgia Evidence Intake Center

In a recent decision, the Department of Veterans Affairs has decided to close the Evidence Intake Center located in Newnan, Georgia. The intake center was one of two facilities used by the VA in an effort to streamline and expedite claims for VA benefits. The Newnan, Georgia intake center serviced all claims in the eastern United States, while the intake center in Janesville, Wisconsin covered the western United States. The second evidence intake center, in Janesville, Wisconsin will remain open and will process all evidence submitted concerning VA benefits claims.

Prior to the use of evidence intake centers the VA had required all veterans’ claims to be processed through the VA regional office in the veterans’ home state. The use of evidence intake centers is part of the VA effort to transition to a paperless claims system, where all applications and medical evidence are scanned at the intake centers and sent electronically to the VA regional offices.
