What is the VA Evidence Intake Center

by | Oct 26, 2015 | Veterans Disability Benefits |

What is the VA Evidence Intake Center?

The VA has created two centralized evidence intake centers, also known as, EICs, to reduce incoming paper handling and shipping requirements. The VA has established EICs in both Janesville, Wisconsin, and Newnan, Georgia. The two EICs are essentially large warehouses that scan all of the mail received for veterans’ benefits claims and send the scanned material, digitally, to the appropriate VA Regional Office for inclusion in each particular veteran’s case file. EICs only accept information and documents pertinent to disability compensation claims, not education claims, home loan matters, pension claims, or vocational rehabilitation and employment matters.

Veterans can mail documents or fax documents to the EIC. If you are represented by an attorney or other representative, it is important to contact and confer with that person prior to submitting any documentation to the EIC to not only ensure completeness and accuracy of submitted materials, but to also make sure that the attorney or representative is kept apprised. The contact information for each EIC is listed below.
