Victory Health Partners
Last week, Colin Kemmerly, partner at Gardberg & Kemmerly, P.C., and I were invited to have lunch with Dr. Robert Lightfoot, Executive/Medical Director, and Ms. Kim Garrett, Development Director, of Victory Health Partners. Victory Health Partners is a faith based nonprofit healthcare organization that provides affordable quality care for low income, uninsured adults in the Mobile area. Because Victory Health Partners only provides healthcare to low income adults, there are certain qualifications that must be met before being eligible to be a patient at Victory Health. A potential patient must:
1) have no form of private medical insurance;
2) not be eligible for Medicaid, Medicare, or VA benefits;
3) be a resident of Mobile or its surrounding counties;
4) be between the ages of 19 and 65 years old; and
5) have a gross income of less than three times the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
Dr. Lightfoot and Ms. Garret met with us to explain Victory Health Partners’ mission and the incredible services that they are providing to the disadvantaged in our area. Victory Health seeks to provide to the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the medically under-served in Mobile and the surrounding community. Victory Health Partners provides examinations, x-rays, eye exams, dental procedures, laboratory tests, and counseling services in their own office for a small copay. If a patient requires special services, Victory Health is able to refer a patient to many different volunteer local specialists in the Mobile area. During our meeting, we were able to discuss the different needs of the impoverished in our community as well as the good that is being done at Victory Health Partners. It was such a wonderful opportunity to meet Dr. Lightfoot and Ms. Garrett and to learn more about Victory Health Partners. They are doing great things for our community!
