DO I NEED A REPRESENTATIVE TO HELP WITH MY DISABILITY CLAIM?

A recently released report titled the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Report showed positive effects of having representation for a Social Security Disability claim. This was done on hearing level allowance rates for disability claims. This report showed that claimants who had representatives “were allowed benefits at a rate nearly three times higher than those without representatives”. SSA officials were quoted as stating “that a representative can help the claimant by ensuring that the medical evidence and other records are fully developed and help the claimant present their case at a hearing”.

If you receive an initial or reconsideration denial for benefits, the next step is to request a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge. The wait time for a hearing is approximately 18-24 months and after that length of time, it is important to have your case ready. Our firm has long believed that having a representative help you with your case is beneficial, now this official report helps validate those beliefs. Do NOT wait till your hearing is scheduled to seek representation, contact our office now and be prepared!
