Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration Partner to Speed Up Disability Decisions for Veterans
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Social Security Administration (SSA) have recently partnered to launch a new Health IT initiative aimed at speeding up SSA decisions regarding Veterans. The new partnership allows the VA to share medical records electronically with disability processors at SSA.
This new electronic file sharing system replaces a decades old manual process. The Social Security Administration requests nearly 15 million medical records annually. Both the VA and SSA expect the new electronic file sharing process to save time and money, while also providing better service for Veterans and their dependents that apply for social security disability benefits.
If you are a veteran who has questions about how this new partnership can affect your claim, please contact the experienced veterans' disability attorneys at Gardberg & Kemmerly, P.C. today for a free case evaluation.
