Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

by | May 23, 2013 | Veterans Disability Benefits |

Many of our veterans are coming home with traumatic brain injuries. Our friends and neighbors in our local area of Mobile, Alabama, probably know a veteran who has been injured in this capacity.

The Department of Veteran’s Affairds (“VA”) has announced that it proposes to help our vets who have suffereed in this way by adding five medical conditions to a list of diseases that, if diagnosed in that vet who received traumatic brain injury while in serivce, would automatically be presumed service connected. The illnesses include unprovoked seizures, symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, certain types of dementia including Alzheimer’s disease, depression, and hormone deficiencies cause by changes of the hypothalamus and pituitary glands.

This will make it easier for the the VA, and in turn our vets, to process the claim by reducing a step. Anything that takes steps to help veterans and to help move along the backlog at the VA is a step in the right direction. If you have any of the problems listed above and would like more information, one of our experienced VA disability attorneys can help!
