Huntington's Disease and Compassionate Allowances

The Social Security Administration will add symptomatic Huntington’s Disease to its Compassionate Allowances program for adults by the end of 2012. The Social Security Administration’s Compassionate Allowances Program allows a fast track to disability decisions for those claimants who have serious conditions -- decisions will be received in days rather than months or years.

Huntington’s Disease is a progressive and always fatal disease of the brain. The expedited disability process will identify people with significant symptoms of this devastating neurological disease and speed up disability decisions for those individuals.
