Supplemental Security Income Approval

Supplemental Security Income Approval

Once you have been found disabled and approved for Supplemental Security Income, you will be contacted by the Social Security Administration within 60 days. It is very important that you respond to their phone call or letter.

If you are approved for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the Social Security office will contact you after your approval to ensure that you still meet the income, resource, and other qualifications for SSI. This is why it is very important to keep the Social Security Administration up to date with your most recent phone number and address. If the Social Security office is unable to contact you, or you do not respond to their phone call or letter, they cannot award your SSI payment.

The Social Security office will ask you questions about your income, resources, and living arrangements to see if anything has changed since you initially filed your claim. Once they have spoken with you and received all of your updated information, they will begin to process your back payment and monthly payment.
