Veterans Day

As Veterans Day approaches, it is important to remember the sacrifices made by the men and women of the Armed Forces. Veterans Day is a day not only to remember those who died in service to our country, but also to recognize those who continue to serve. Veterans Day is observed annually on November 11, regardless of what day of the week the date falls. November 11 is significant because on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month of 1918 an armistice, or temporary halt to hostilities, was entered into by the Allied Forces and Germany. November 11, 1918, was deemed the end of “the war to end all wars.” November 11th has been designated a day of celebration since 1919.

Locally, the Mobile Area Veterans Day Committee is hosting its annual parade down Government Street on Wednesday, November 11 beginning at 10:00AM. Following the parade, a luncheon will be held at the Fort Whiting Auditorium beginning at noon. A Freedom Celebration will begin at 3:00PM at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. The Mobile Pops will end the evening with a performance at 7:00PM. All events are free to the public with the exception of the luncheon.

The attorneys and staff at Gardberg & Kemmerly, PC are privileged to serve veterans and their families year-round. We at Gardberg & Kemmerly would like to thank all veterans for their service to our country. Today, and every day, we appreciate and honor your sacrifice on our behalf.
